Green Piastów

Piastów is the second city in Poland in terms of the number of inhabitants per km² (3,871 people/km²). It is a city located in the Mazowiecka Lowland, 14 km from the center of Warsaw, adjacent to the district of Warsaw - Ursus, the city of Pruszków, the city and the commune of Ożarów Mazowiecki. a city dependent on the life rhythm of the Warsaw agglomeration. The advantage of this functional dependence is a decent connection to the capital (rail and bus)
Short story
The first records of settlement in this area date back to the 16th century.
they allow us to trace the beginnings of our town in the religious village of Żżary belonging to the parish of Żbików.
In 1900, the construction of the first housing estate in Piastów began. This gave rise to a settlement called Lost. In 1912, Wiktoryn Sonin, the owner of the surrounding land, donated a one-acre plot of land for the construction of the church.
Two years later, the first public primary school was established in one of the buildings of the railway estate. It received the name of Stanisław Staszic. Soon after, the construction of a second housing estate for railway workers began, with a unique manor house architecture (preserved to this day at ul. ks. J. Popiełuszki).
In 1918, the first scouting teams were formed.
The awakened aspirations of the inhabitants began to suffer from the name of the settlement "Utrata" as it was incompatible with their activity and thriftiness. Therefore, in 1926, a social committee was appointed to organize a competition for a new name for the settlement.
The "Piastów" proposal of the 14-year-old scout Zygmunt Kosewski won
The German occupation began in Piastów on September 8, 1939 and lasted until January 17, 1945. At that time, the pro-independence conspiracy of the Polish Underground State, with extensive secret teaching, was developing and active in Piastów.
After the end of the war, life in Piastów returned to civilian, peaceful conditions. The growing number of inhabitants and the educational needs of their children resulted in the establishment of the Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Adam Mickiewicz, and in 1946, the Basic Vocational School, soon transformed into the Complex of Chemical Schools.
On September 1, 1996, a new primary school was opened at ul. J. Brandt. The school adopts the tradition of the former Primary School No. 1. Stanisław Staszic. The ceremony is attended by the Primate of Poland, Cardinal Józef Glemp.
Scouting
Scouting in Piastów was born in 1918.
It started with the field troop of the 1st Pruszkow Scouting Team, which in 1919 became the 1st Utracka (former name of Piastów) Scouting Team named after Stefan Czarnecki.
The Headquarters of the ZHP Troop in Piastów was established in 1938, in the fall. The work of the already organized structure was interrupted by the turmoil of war…
It was not until September 1, 1975 that the Piast Center was raised to the rank of a troop.
The result of the Hero Campaign, launched in 1996, was the naming of the Piast scout troop after professor Aleksander Kamiński "Kamyk" and the dedication of the banner, which took place on May 3, 1997.
In 2018, the Piast scouts celebrated their centenary of existence.
